We had a fun-filled 10 days at 345 Surfsong for the last time. Thank you to the Alpern family for having us and for all that you did to make it a great vacation. We're looking forward to the next one!

Go Go Godzilla!

With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound
He pulls the spitting high tension wires down.
Helpless people on a subway train
scream bug-eyed as he looks in on them.
He picks up a bus and he throws it back down
As he wades through the buildings toward the center of town.
Oh no, they say hes got to go!
Go go Godzilla, yeah!
Oh no, there goes Tokyo!
Go go Godzilla, yeah!
History shows again and again
How nature points up the folly of men.
Godzilla!

October 3rd, 2007
We can't believe our 'lil guy is already one. Because it certainly doesn't seem like that long ago that Hope and I were able to bring him home from the hospital. What a wonderful year it has been, and we are truly blessed.
Thank you to all the family and friends that made this a special day for our son. Tyler received many wonderful presents and had a great first birthday party.

We spent the past week in Ocean City, New Jersey with the Prinzings, Nonna, and Uncle Keify!!! What a great time we all had. The surf was completely lousy, and sometimes the weather wouldn't cooperate. But it was a great time with family, and we really got some great relaxation time in.
Uncle Keify hit it big on the slots in Atlantic City, the house was great, the neighborhood was quiet, and we were close to the beach. We will definitely be going back next September.

The family took a recent trip to visit Uncle Dave, Aunt Stacey
and the Alpern cousins in Charlotte, North Carolina. And then
traveled onto the Alpern cabin, "Crosswind" in Boone. The
trip was a great time to see family, however, we learned that
Tyler really doesn't like to be strapped in his car seat for
more than about 2 hours. So there was a lot of drivin' 'n
cryin' for the trip.
No matter, we got some fabulous photos, and continue to love on our precious son.

Our little "munki punkin" Tyler is now 6 months old. He likes to roll around on his safari activity mat, play in his exersaucer and jump up and down in what we refer to as his "jumpy-jump". Of course he also still loves being kissed up by his parents. We are enjoying him more and more each and every day and feel blessed to be the parents of such a wonderful little guy.

I took the photo to the left from Hope's new camera phone. We aren't absolutely sure why, but this could be our favorite image of our 'lil Munki Punkin'. Something about his look, and face, makes him so smooch-able somehow.
I actually feel a bit bad for Tyler, because he probably receives about 300 kisses a day, every day. With easily two-thirds of 'em coming from Daddy.
Kiss 'em while you can!

To all who may read this...Hope and I have found out, with such fervor and truthfullness, that children are indeed a BLESSING from the Lord. I know this may sound like overkill, but each and everyday Hope and I are filled with new joy, love, and adoration for our beloved son Tyler. He has captured our hearts in such a way, that we are filled with praises for our God for creating him, and blessing us with him.
Tyler is accomplish new feats of amazement almost on a daily basis, and is smiling, coo'ing, and making fun noises the whole way. He enjoys time in the swing, in the Papasan, on the activity mat, and on his surfboard for tummy time. Of course the old favorites of feeding, pooping, and sleeping are still very much enjoyed.
We had a short photo-shoot done by a friend of ours, so we could give out some Christmas presents this past year...so please have a look at some of the photos on this website link. |

As expected, Hope and I have had our hands full with taking care of our beloved newborn Tyler. We are all learning new things each and every day, and Hope and I are continually feeling God's Grace and Mercy. Thank you all for your prayers, visits, cards, gifts, and well-wishes. Tyler is already the most spoiled 'lil person I've ever known.
Tyler does so many adorable things, and Hope and I are enjoying simply watching him on the changing table, or on our bed, or in his swing. Little did we know just how much this little person would capture our hearts. We love him so, and are so very thankful to God above for giving us this little miracle. (Of course, as I'm typing this note, he's just wailin' upstairs for Mommy.)
I have finally had some free time to put up some photos of our wonderful son. Please click here to see the photos. |
IT's A BOY!!! Tyler John Wojciech was born at 1:14pm, on Tuesday, October 3rd at Fairfax Hospital! Our little guy weighed in at 7lbs, and 6oz, and was 20" in length. We are overjoyed, and have such a wonderful testimony to share concerning all the events that transpired this week.
We have nothing but Glory and Praise to the Most High God, His Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit for our son. More details to follow later, but Mommy is doing just fine, and baby will be coming home very soon.

Well, here we are about 5 weeks away from the birth of our
child! Amazing how time has really flown for Hope and I this
summer. God has been so very gracious to my company, and provided
more work than we can really handle. Hope has been busy with
work, and setting up our home for the wonderful arrival. He
has been so very good to us.
I've finally had a chance to post a few pictures of our baby shower. Once the nursery is complete, I'll try and snap a few pictures of the room and post on the blog as well. So far, it's looking very adorable and comfortable.
As promised, see below the finished cradle, one shot with
bedding and the other without:

The cradle is now a satin white finish, and the star on the headboard and the "baby" on the footerboard are painted "Mystical Sea" to match the walls of our nursery.
Hope and I have narrowed down our name list to a manage-able handful, and plan on "meeting" baby before actually naming him or her. However, we still welcome any and all (reasonable) suggestions!
Once again, all praise, and honor and glory to Him who lived a perfect life, and died the perfect death, so that we may be ransomed from spiritual deadness, and reckoned back to God...our Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ! To Him be all praise for living in our hearts, and blessing us more than we could ever imagine.

Another doctor's appointment come and gone this week. Nothing really new or exciting to report. Hope and I are growing more excited for baby, and seem to really be anticipating the birthday. Doc said that Hope is doing very well, and that pretty much all measurements are according to plan.
We do, however, have to visit a specialist for our next ultrasound to get a final word on baby's kidneys. Our doctor feels that a specialist will come more quickly to the, "they're fine, don't worry about it" consclusion than having us continually go back to the normal radiologist locale.
The baby shower is tomorrow and Hope is pretty excited about that as well. So thank you to all of you who will attend in person or in spirit. And a VERY special thank you to all of you who purchased gifts for our unborn little one. We are very grateful!

August 4th, 2006
So I guess one good positive out of having to go to our third ultrasound yesterday, was that we FINALLY got the photo of baby that we were always looking for! See the adorable little profile shot below:

Hope and I were elated when the nurse got very excited about the, "first profile shot of the day". It's so cute to see baby 31 weeks into the pregnancy, and we are very grateful that baby was up for the photo shoot yesterday. I feel that baby definitely has Hope's nose, which was confirmed by Uncle Keify who said, "Yeah, that's definitely not your nose. It's too small and cute. I think you're having a girl!". Ha ha ha!.
The nurse said that the kidneys were pretty much normal size now, and so we praise God for that! Everything looked really good, and baby seems very healthy and quite strong, and we shouldn't really have to have another ultrasound. So I suppose the next time we "see" baby, it will be on the birthday!
Hope and I are working on getting everything ready for the nursery, and transferring the furniture currently in there (our home office) to another room in our house. We hope to have everything in, setup, and assembled by the end of August. We probably will leave some decorating tasks to the very end. We now have a crib, and a changing dresser on order, along with a few other things.
Hope's baby shower is August 19th, and I have been asked to complete the cradle by that time. Which is coming along very nicely, but I still have a lot of finishing work to do. I'll try and post a picture once it's all done.
All praise, honor, and Glory to the one who has Ransomed us from sin and death, Jesus Christ, our Savior. May God turn baby's heart towards Him at a young age. Amen!

Well, I have been just super busy the past month or so,
as we have had a very trying season dealing with a lot of
things going on right now. Thank God the Lord is our Strength
and our Song! And thank you to all of our family and friends
who have lifted us up in prayer. We are forever grateful
and know that He will carry us.
Hope and I have ventured away from home on two separate
trips since our last post,
and I've finally had a bit of time to post a few photos
of each excursion. So for any
and
all that are interested...view our St.
Michael's, MD photos here, and our
Ocean City, NJ photos here.
(The Ocean City ones are really just photos of
Derek and Christine's children. As I really didn't take
any pictures of much else,
and only had the camera out for a few minutes one morning.
But the kids are cute,
so I posted a few of 'em.)
Hope and I have a few appointments upcoming to check on
baby next week.
So we'll be updating the site again sometime in the near
future.
(The photo to the right of my wonderful wife, was simply
too cool not to post. I think she looks as fresh
as a daisy.)

John and I went to our sixth doctor's appointment today. We got to listen to the baby's heartbeat again, which is strong and beating around 140 beats per minute. We will be going back for another ultrasound in about a month, however Dr. Wolfe told us that she doesn't see the baby's kidney size becoming an issue. And hopefully we will have more ultrasound pictures to share.
I started our baby registry last weekend. My mom came with me to help me pick out all those necessities that John would not have been very interested in, like bottles, thermometers and a diaper genie. I never realized how much there is to choose from! Next weekend we are planning to go back to pick out some of the "fun" stuff for the nursery. Thank you to my mom for purchasing us a very cute bedding set to go with the cradle. We are very excited to put baby in it for the first time.

Hope is still getting the feeling that she is carrying a girl. And apparently, she has that "football" shape as well. Only God knows for sure.
Baby seems to really be kicking these days, and Hope and I find it very enjoyable still. We are finding that baby loves to hear the guitar, and people singing. Whether it is a small group, or just Hope and myself, baby seems to kick quite a bit either during the songs, or afterwards as if to be saying, "encore! encore!" hahaha. Amazing.
Anyways, we had another round of ultrasounding on our child, and below are the photos. Hope and I are much more please as you can clearly see baby's face and features in a few of them.

Baby's kidneys are still larger than normal, but only slightly. Neither our doctor, nor the presiding doctor over the ultrasound (who was different from the first guy, who had the personality of a dumptruck) thinks this will be an issue. So that's good. And we praise God for making baby healthy, and strong enough that he/she kicks Mommy a lot!

June 2nd, 2006
Hope and I had another checkup this past Wednesday. And found out that the doctor presiding over our previous ultrasound was somewhat sketchy. Zero personality, and a lousy, dry, disposition. Thusly, our doctor informed us that any kidney measuring under 6mm is completely normal, and that they see this all the time and in his 15 years of practicing has never seen a larger kidney turn into something.
We will still need to have another ultrasound in a few weeks, but that's normal procedure. And who knows? Maybe we can get some decent photos of baby this time.
Not a whole lot else to report for this entry...oh, we are going to have the nursery, "Snoopy" themed. |

Hello to anyone and everyone who may be reading this.
I've got the latest ultrasound pictures scanned, and the first one is of the baby's two feet. And I know for certain that from this picture baby has her Mommy's feet:

Below is a picture of the head. Because of the angle, the ultrasound was really only able to pick up the baby's skull. Thusly, it looks kind of scary. But baby is situation left to right, and the eye sockets can clearly be seen, along with the rest of the bone structure:

We did receive a phone call from our doctor regarding the ultrasound photos from last week, and it was all very good and reassuring news. She mentioned how this is very common, and how she's never had this turn into a problem. So that helped Hope and I to be a bit more at peace. But we know baby is being knit in Hope's womb the exact way that God wants.
Finally, please see below the birthday present I made for dear wife's 27th birthday. Hope has decided she'd like it finished in white, and has yet to buy the cradle bedding. So I guess I'll post a picture of the finished product at some point as well.
Thanks for reading, and God is good! Hallelujah!

Firstly, let me announce that I am so grateful to God above for bringing me such a wonderful wife. Outside of Calavary, you are the best thing that's ever happened to me baby.
Hope and I went to our ultrasound yesterday, and have come back with a bit of a prayer request. Though baby looked fabulous in many areas, they did detect that there could perhaps be a problem in the kidney development. I believe the doctor used the phrase, "distended renal pelvis" of the kidney. So we are due back in 4 weeks. The doctor really tried to soft pedal the news, as it's not uncommon, and he didn't want to alarm us. So something to pray for; which is a great thing.
I will be posting photos of baby sometime next week...however, it was kind of funny to see our little one squirm away from the the camera so-to-speak. Everytime the lady tried to get a good photo of the face, baby seemed to know, and thusly, move. Hahaha. It was a bit entertaining to see, however, it prevented us from getting any real good shots of baby this time around. The only one of the face she was able to get looks more like something out of a, "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie, rather than a sweet little baby. Kinda scary.
Baby is about 11 ounces, and about the length of a stick of butter. Hope is just shy of 20 weeks into the pregnancy, and her new delivery date is October 6th.

May 15th, 2006
OK, the funniest thing about "our" pregnancy thus far, has
been the challenge, trial, and tribulation of finding proper
maternity clothes. I mean, Hope's been all over, hasn't found
much, complains of the shoddy construction of the clothes,
or the price. Who knew this would become such a hassle in
our household? Certainly not me.
It has been a very interesting experience for me to see my dear Hopium go through all this. It seems that I am quite surprised at some of her reactions and adjustments to being pregnant. I don't think I've been correct in any of my predicted behaviors.
How I love her so more and more each and every day.
This is not to say that I feel like I'm living with a completely different woman, but it has been pretty strange, and I can certainly see how very much we are "beginners" at this whole process. Anyways, just a random thought about how our family is changing, the importance of maternity clothes, and the challenge our little one has posed to our lives. Hallelujah!
We also have our next ultrasound on my lovely wife's birthday this week on the 17th. Hopium is turning 27, and we should really get a good look at our 'lil guy or girl. We are still resolute in not finding out the sex.

May 4th, 2006
Hope had her third doctor's visit yesterday, and she continues to let me tag along. We found out a few things...Hope has gained the "textbook" amount of weight considering she is nearly 18 weeks into the pregnancy now. She is almost half-way! We got to hear the heartbeat once again, and instead of sounding like some sort of ma-cheen, it actually sounded like a true heartbeat. Baby seems to be doing wonderful in that crammed little space...though he/she has nothing to do in there. Maybe I'll have Hope swallow a ball or something, so baby will have something to play with. Hahaha.
The fetal doppler also can pick up swooshing sounds when baby moves...pretty adorable.
I really get the sense that our doctor is more worried about my mental state through all of this, than Hope's. Which seems about right, as we all know Hope is so prone to emotional outburts, and temperamental misgivings. Haha!
We have our next ultrasound in two weeks, where we will be able to really, "see" baby. We are staying true to the course, and do not desire to find out the sex of the baby. But we should be able to see all the fingers and toes, and everything. I will probably have more pictures to post at that time.
Thank you all for your prayers during this time...we have had such a strong sense of peace thru out this special time, and I know it is due to our family and friends lifting us up in prayer.

April 20th, 2006
Well, both Hope and I have decided that she is now, "showing".
It's so adorable to see her tummy begin to show the effects
of our growing baby. Hope had all the necessary blood work
done last week as well. We are still a few weeks away from
our next appointment.
We still are going over names, should God give us a son.
|
April 6th, 2006
Hope had her second doctor's visit yesterday. We asked a few questions, she got weighed (I weigh myself each time as well, and I don't know what's going on with that scale over there, but it seems I lost 8lbs. Not sure how that happened...) and most importantly...we got to hear baby's heartbeat! Amazing. Sounded a bit more like a steam engine underground, but sure enough, baby's heart is beating strong and true.
There is a rumor that if the baby's heartbeat slowed from the first visit to the second visit that it is a boy. I made a comment that I thought that the heartbeat was slower. However, the doctor quickly pointed out that that is completely untrue, and the heart rate matters not on detecting the sex of the baby.
We also learned that the amount of sugar intake for the mommy does not contribute to a large birth weight of the child. Well, at least that is what our doctor told us, as the extra sugar is absorbed by the mother's insulin, and not passed on to the baby. I thought that was interesting as a few moms in my office had recommended to stay away from sugar to have a smaller baby. Hmmmm...
Also our Wednesday Bible study group seems to think we are having a girl...anyone else wanna venture a guess?
Hope schedule her next appointment about a month out...and we continue to be in prayer about having a healthy baby, and with a heart turned towards Christ.

March 22nd, 2006
Hope and I wish to announce that we are pregnant with our
very first child. We are very excited, and have already been
to the doctor once, and everything seems to be going very
well. Hope and I are dedicated to not peeking, and desire
to be surprised on baby's birthday with a son or daughter.
We have however, selected a few girls names that we really
like, but still struggling on an agreement should we have
a son however. Last time we looked, baby was about .78" long,
and growing very nicely.
We both are excited as the daunting task of parenthood awaits. However, we are growing in Faith, and praying for God's Grace to help us with the task that He has called us to.
Here is a 3D ultrasound of our baby at about 6.5 weeks. Amazing huh?
Baby is about .75" in this picture. It was neat to see baby's
heart beating, and the way baby was squirming around in there.
Just like a newborn, only much, much smaller. God is amazing!
I will be attempting to update this portion of our wedding
website, as events warrant. So check back for pictures, or
updates of what is going on. We also will be posting registry
information soon enough. |
